| Athurugau Island Resort
It will take about 20 minutes from Male' Int'l Airport to reach Athurugau. At first, we would like to say is that they are well-organized resorts.
The beauty of this holiday destination is that the holidays here are on All-Inclusive. Thus all drinks are free, except expensive liquors. Hence the services and activities are bundled. And the sports and recreation included in the package are; Gymnastic daily activities (stretching, aerobics, water-gym), Windsurf, Canoe, Catamaran, Laser boat, Volley ball, Table tennis, Darts and in-door games, Guided snorkeling around the island, 1 sunset fishing excursion a week, 1 fisherman island excursion a week, 1 desert island picnic excursion a week, 1 trial diving lesson, Evening animation programs, Discotheque.
However, water-skiing, big game fishing, speed boat hire are not included in the All-Inclusive package; but these service are available at Athurugau. Nevertheless you will never be disappointed with Athurugau's All-Inclusive package. Snorkeling trips, Excursions, island hopping, fishing trips, picnics changes every week - and you could get the upto dated information from the reception. Mostly the guests are Swiss-Italians, Italians and Germans. Hardly a guest could complaint - the operation of the islands is so perfect, that Athurugau increases its repeaters year by year. The food is extremely good in the airy restaurant - could this be because that the island has been managed by an Italian company, since Italians usually take food as a high priority. Thus main restaurant serves American breakfast from 08.00 to 10.30 am. Buffet lunch is served from 13.00 to 14.30 and buffet dinner is served from 20.000 to 21.30. Special barbecue dinners and theme nights such as Maldivian, Italian and Chinese are organized weekly. Main Bar serves alcoholic and non alcoholic international drinks from 12.00 to 15.00 and from 18.00 to 00.30.
Athurugau has a very eager dive school, headed by "Francesco Fontana". Note that the dive charges are extras - though you go for an All-Inclusive holiday in anywhere in the Maldives. Just like the luxury resort dive centre's, the Crab (name of the Dive Centre), has its own staffs who will carry all your staff to the boat and once you come back they will wash and hang everything accordingly. Close-by there are great thila's and an extremely good wreck, known as "Trigoni Wreck". In the vicinity of this 30 metre cargo vessel I have had many spectacular encounters. Great speckled trigons, which in these waters have no fear of man, seem to pose for lovers of photography (by the way, do not forget a 16/16 mm wide-angle lens). From time to time we have found ourselves face to face with a gigantic moray-eel, reaching 2 and a half metres in length, that harmlessly encircles the boat. You are advised to wear a Mute Pacific 3mm suit for this immersions with a torch to illuminate the spellbinding scenery. One last piece of advice, before diving with The Crab instructors always take the Aladin Sport computer with you as it is, apart from ourselves, the ideal companion to check the situation at a depth of 27 meters. Athurugau is the sister island of nearby "Thundufushi". And its been managed and operated by an Italian company. Therefore most of the activities and services that are said about either of the resort's are very much applicable to both the islands. Athurugau is located in the South Ari Atoll and 52 nautical miles south west of Male'. 
There are 46 beautifully appointed bungalows lie all on the stunning beach surrounding the island. Every bungalow has a king-size bed or two-queen size beds; and has modern and comfy cane furniture, individual air-conditioning system, ceiling fan, private stocked bar refrigerator, IDD telephone, safe deposit box, three channel in-house music, and a verandah overlooking the sea. Sun beds, beach towels and bathrobes are provided. The bathroom has two washbasins, a bidet and an open air shower. Hot and cold desalinated water is provided.
Other courtesies included in the ALL-Inclusive package are; Tea and coffee, Water, Soft drinks, Fruit juices, Canned beer, Wine, Cocktails, Long drinks, Italian sparkling wine, Snacks, Loose cigarettes, Laundry
The best beach is on the left side of the main jetty, which is in front of the bar and the main restaurant. And this has led the lagoon of this area small. Nevertheless snorkeling ground is easily accessible from the jetty. However the opposite side has a huge lagoon, which is ideal for water sports and sun bathing.
